As I grew up in the cornfields of Ohio I began attending church and learning of God and how He moves in the lives of people throughout the Bible. Later, after attending a private Christian school, in Kentucky , I realized He moves among people today, also. This is where I became more aware of his word and how much I need to know regarding his word. I gave my heart to Him, and have been following since then.
I have become interested in mission work, from watching good examples of individuals, living a life for God and not for themselves, only. They inspired me to look at missions as an outreach of the church and I feel a strong passion for both, the church and in missions, within our country and without. Many people accept God’s forgiveness, but don’t become involved in His work, Which we were created to do.
Due to one of these examples, I was encouraged to take a trip to A Communist country, and deliver Bibles and much needed medicines. I went, a little nervous at first, but now with great confidence, as I see the desperate needs of others trying to serve God, in a more harsh environment than we have ever faced. His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. As I grew up in the cornfields of Ohio I began attending church and learning of God and how He moves in the lives of people throughout the Bible. They have a hunger to read his word, because they do not have their own copy. Why do many of us starve from reading, as we do? They do not depend upon a pastor only, to minister, as each attendee to the church becomes a missionary to lead others around them, to God. They have a great need in the physical areas of life, and finances are not their main focus, as most live without any resources at all. These are areas, the American church, has been blessed with, to help others, in their time of need. Unfortunately, so many of our churches, focus on only our “needs”, which often are “wants.” Go ye into all the world, requires resources also. We can do both!
I have spent most of my adult life, now, ministering to those who are less fortunate in our country, needing assistance with addictions, or those in church who need to learn more by studying his word . I have been extremely happy in my service for Jesus, and trust he gives me many more years to reach out to those in other countries as well as those I might yet meet.
It is truly an honor to Serve the Lord with gladness, as the psalmist wrote, but it requires a DAILY decision to, Deny myself, take up MY cross, and follow Him. I will speak to his faithfulness, as he has helped me these many years, do, what some say they cannot do. I find that interesting, as I once thought that also. The Lord helped me, the Lord can help them, and I pray he will help YOU, to grow closer and Lean not on your own understanding, but in ALL your ways acknowledge HIM, and he shall direct your path. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!
It starts with the simple things; buy someone a meal or deliver it to them, (share the Gospel) hand out a religious paper or info, (share the Gospel) adjust your personal lifestyle to include time to help in church, help a neighbor or call someone (and live out the Gospel). You cannot give away what you don’t have! Study your Bible, so you can share an encouraging word, save money so you can give to those who are in need, in or outside our country, save your time to invest into others not just yourself. Begin giving Praise to God! These are little things that we can start doing, to have an incredible journey with God.
Blessings and growth, to you all. David.
